Communication and Outreach

Hello all, first time caller

I don’t mince words no time for that so a few observations, not meant to be insulting but maybe find the right ears to make a difference.

This forum looks dead, arranged by latest it appears at least there are a few visitors, changing the display default to latest may prevent drive by’s, pull in some window shoppers.

May not, just an observation.

I gravitated to the Communication and Outreach category and read some great posts, so I believe there are some good minds at work (or was, they are dated).

I’ve been sampling various (a lot of) platforms and installed diaspora* yesterday.

My initial reaction, VERY IMPRESSED

But I log in today and see (in my stream) a new release is out, yikes, into the fire lets buckle up and prepare for a lesson.

Except, luckily, before I got busy I noted the date, it was from 11 months ago, might be something to address.

So, initially impressed, but, no wind in the sails here?

Well, I “may” be able to help.

I’m seeking a federated platform for my network.

My network needs federation, it is large, lots of opportunity for federating individual instances.

But, I need to be clear, I’ve run into nothing but closed mindedness among what I call the open source crowd.

Which is odd, I’m in the firearms network, I see open source people as keyboard commandos, firearms people affect a target down range, keyboard commandos get the same type of satisfaction around the world.

Firearms people fight for freedom, I believe open source people do as well.

So, I face two things here, seemingly no life, and likely the same prejudice encountered elsewhere.

However, Communication and Outreach…

I’m testing both.

Is there anyone here receptive to a new network on-boarding for growth?

Not every project needs growth. Diaspora has quite a few users, and they are very happy with what diaspora* is, and frequently pick diaspora* over other projects primarily because the development pace is slow and the user experience is super stable.
