Some user might want to connect to diaspora only when familly, friends or other people post a publication that they can see (for users how do not post and connect often). However, there is no way to be notified for new posts via email.
Either a specific aspect should be made for receiving notification of the posts from all thge contact it contains and automatic following posts, or better each aspects could have the setting "Notify for new posts from contacts of this aspect : on/off".
I do not know if this is easy to implement but it seems to me that all the tools are already there (email notifications, following posts…).
