Proposal: Add ToS and PP documents to joindiaspora.com

Is it not time that Diaspora add ToS and PP documents to joindiaspora.com?

That’s out of scope of this group IMO.

joindiaspora.com is just a Diaspora installation incidentally run by the founders. Nothing the community has any control about.

Sean, as far as a ToS/PP, I have been told that Diaspora Inc had worked with a privacy expert from Stanford? What happened with those efforts? Could you please comment on this, I would love to see us moving forward also on this issue.

Jonne, I understand your point, but I think it would be great to have a ToS and PP that is not “property” of Diaspora inc but of the COMMUNITY. If I set up a pod tomorrow I would like to have a ToS and a PP, but maybe I do not have the time nor the knowledge to write those documents all by myself.

By the way Jonne, I thinfk most people here (including myself) know that joindiaspora.com is just one Diaspora installation.

And as there is no Diaspora Foundation, not yet, that is why I have to speak in terms of Diaspora Inc and joindiaspora.com. The community is my scope, that is why I am here.

Your proposal is “Add ToS and PP documents to joindiaspora.com”. We can vote for it as much as we want, we have no control about it.

If you really meant “Create general purpose TosS and PP documents for podmins to use” you should’ve said so.

Jonne, you have a point, that is a better.

Just for everybodys information: You can find German ones here: https://github.com/geraspora/german-terms-of-service

You can enter your suggested PP and ToS right on the new site http://diaspora.openspirit.de/node/4 - do you already have drafts for it ?

See also https://diasp.eu/toc and https://diasp.eu/privacy_policy

Also https://calispora.org/calispora/privacy-policy.html and
https://calispora.org/calispora/tos.html

/me suggest you register on our site - community WHERE ARE YOU!?

I don’t think it’s immediately necessary, although a rough draft might inspire more podmins to write their own.

While these would only be suggestions or guidelines for podmins (as mentioned in another discussion, we can’t make a podmin use any particular TOS or privacy policy), I do think it’s necessary. In some jurisdictions, a privacy policy is a legal requirement. It’s also a requirement for any pod using Facebook integration (since you have to register an app on Facebook and, according to their TOS and developer guidelines, every app must have a privacy policy). I may be wrong on this last point, but my understanding is that any site serving any European traffic also needs a cookie policy now.

In addition to the links already provded here, Wordpress.com has licensed the text of their TOS and privacy policies under a Creative Commons license, so those could possibly be used as a starting point.

I added the text from calispora as template for podmins on diasporaproject.org http://diaspora.openspirit.de/node/6 - I hope I replaced all concrete terms.

Groove, I do not see any licence information on thoose documents at calispora, so maybe we should as David (the admin) if it is okey to use them for this.
