Did you think of, er, searching before starting this thread about searching? Because there are several existing discussions about extending the search feature. Try:
- Advanced search with the ability to save preset streams
- Improving and expanding hashtags usability
- Improvement Diaspora* search engine
… et cetera, et cetera.
There has never been any objection to improving the search facility in Diaspora; what is needed is for someone to say ‘You know what? This is so important to me that I’m going to make it happen.’ So far many people have said ‘you should do this’, but no one has yet said ‘I will do this’. When that happens, Diaspora will have a better search facility.
