Automatically convert oversize photos

Hi there, I just came across the following post about image magic and I though that instead of having to do that manually as explained in the post there could be a condition on the upload process of an image that if it’s bigger than the maximum authorized size it would be automatically converted to a suitable size. For the user it would be transparent and it would solve the maximum size argument because people would be able to upload any kind of pictures and not worry about it.

What do you think?

That’s already done and will be in the next major release 0.8.0.0. Some pods running the develop-branch already have it.

Great news indeed. Not trying to look a gift-horse in the mouth but those who care about the detailed quality of their displayed images should run comparisons with resizing using their own software against the Diaspora* reduction.
