Personally I think that Diaspora is not a groupware and does not need its own calendar.

Diaspora is a social network. We may (and i think we should) use separate application for organizer. Instead of social network we should use operating system to get comfortable access to all possible tools and applications. I can suggest to improve third party organizer and add functionality like synchronization of dates with social networks.

Please use the search function, there are already. multiple threads about an events feature.

Loomio is definitly only about can I haz this feature now

@augier Because that’s what Loomio is for, according to the Wiki:

Feature Proposals
This group is specifically for proposing features, or modifying existing ones

From: https://wiki.diasporafoundation.org/Discussion_and_voting#Feature_Proposals

Although, further up on the wiki page it does say:

please don’t use Loomio discussions as features wish-lists

However, people click the #Feature_Proposals meta link and they don’t see any text above it so they are doing what they are told and proposing new features

@rich1 : We might have a semantic disagreement on that :

This group is specifically for proposing features, or modifying existing ones

Proposing features, not asking for or demand those.

No idea mate, I’m simply offering suggestions on why Loomio is now all about “can I haz this feature”

Ah, ok ! :stuck_out_tongue:

I personally know very few people who actually use a third-party-tool for a calendar (except for work). And I do know a lot of people who do like to use facebook’s events to organise attendance etc.

oh and if i may ask by the way: where would be a place to suggest/discuss new features?

This feature is not useful as is. It could be a part of the group feature that I don’t know who is currently developing. This is more something that has to do with events. A calendar alone would be useless.

Hmmf… Pretty nowhere
I mean, suggestions are warm welcomed. You can open a thread on Loomio to discuss the useness and the viability of a feature and hope that someone implements it someday.

But currently, there’s barely enough devs to maintain the system and develop little features. So, don’t hope big features like groups or events to come this year.

But consider that Loomio has probably an already opened thread for the feature that you might ask. So please use the search function before you ask

I have edited that wiki section on the Feature Proposals sub-group, which will hopefully reduce the number of ‘I can haz’ discussions.
