Building a Planet with the Aggregator module is fairly easy, although the downside is that I can’t find a reasonable way to add user avatars to the Planet. I’ve thought of a couple of different solutions.

You can see a prototype I’ve built here: http://deadsuperhero.com/planet

One thing that I’d really like to see: a Planet that just grabs a user’s RSS feed URL from a provided user field.

Additionally, Advanced Aggregator looks interesting: http://drupal.org/node/1216496

I’ve noticed that you’ve got the Feeds module enabled, does that allow for importing from a user field? If so, that would save a lot of time.

if i remember correctly that’s fine with allgregator. Allow auth user to create newsfeed. Should be checked by moderator before feed item nodes are created?!

adv. aggreator: took short look, not ready? but good stuff

@Sean & Jakob, concerning omega theme: how can I reset grid+block active setting on the site as user logged in and keep it off?

The settings for it should be under the theme settings. There are a ton of settings for the grid in there, including turning the visual grid on and off manually.

test site crashed on my tests, I copied the prod db back. So the test accounts are gone in case you wonder.

That’s okay, been doing theme development and Views building on my own server at the moment. Can export them when I’m done.
