Add support for Mozilla Persona

Persona (was called BrowserID) is a system powered by Mozilla which allow you to link your browser with e-mail addresses. See https://www.persona.org/ and https://github.com/mozilla/persona.org

Proposal by Flaburgan.

List of available pods.

@Jakob: Nice thought, but it’d probably be easier (and more efficient) to just directly link to podupti.me somewhere.

@Altruism: Apparently, there’s a Drupal module for Persona: http://drupal.org/project/browserid

Dunno how good it is, will have to try it out. We also have to keep in mind that we want to keep our list of modules fairly light. The more modules you load and enable, the heavier the website gets.

We’re also going to need some sort of Spam protection, so that bots don’t end up trying to register and spam everywhere.

Sean, in a scale 1-10, how user friendly (new non-tech) do you think podupti.me is?

Sean, we are already testing Persona on the test site :slight_smile:

It’s not the prettiest-looking site, but it’s a good service. Really, I’d have to at least give it an 8, with 10 being highest. It could be better, but it’s functional, self-explanatory, and gets the job done.

I give it 3! And I feel generous today :slight_smile:

Persona status on test site: I get “An unknown error occurred while attempting to validate your BrowserID login. After clicking “OK,” you will be redirected to a page where you can log in without BrowserID or try logging in with BrowserID again.”

for list of pods: pod content type. we can add metadata later, and voting etc.

Honestly, I think recreating the work of podupti.me is kind of overkill at the moment. I think we should build the rest of the site first, and then worry about whether to add it or not.

Who said recreating? I know Jakob said “list” but I think the point is “help new users to choose a Diaspora server”.
