The default welcome message in diaspora.yml.example is simply “Hello %{username}, welcome to diaspora.”
I still see an awful lot of people who have recently signed up and have no idea how diaspora* works, what a pod is or how to do the most basic things. This default message doesn’t really help them, and it’s currently relying on podmins to create their own message.
I’d like to improve this default welcome message by including a bit about diaspora and some tips – probably an abbreviated version of the welcome message posted periodically by the HQ account: https://pod.diaspora.software/posts/e8093bb0da340136e4455254001bd39e
This would also give something for podmins to customise to suit their pod.
Does anyone have any objections to this?
