Diaspora* at FOSDEM 2016

Hey @flaburgan,

A very quick review of your presentation:
Page 1: ‘Front-end dev’ (not Font end’)
Page 2: ‘Because we shouldn’t have to obey to their rules’ - omit the second ‘to’ (just ‘to obey their rules’). Also, I would remove ‘no nudes’, as this is covered by both ‘nothing controversial’ and ‘censorship’, and you perhaps don’t want to give the impression that d* is mostly about porn.
pp. 4-7: I would change the headings to simply ‘Decentralized’, ‘Social’ and ‘Private’, as these would work better with the bullet points on each page. It looks a bit confusing at the moment.
page 4: Decentralized

  • free, open-source software to install on any server
  • a network built by the installations interacting
  • the nodes (“pods”) talk with each other, just like e-mail
  • only the pod admins can control the data

page 6: Social

  • share content with selected contacts / the world
  • post messages, images, polls
  • rich content: #hashtags, @mentions, styling with markdown
  • react to content by commenting, <3ing, resharing

page 7: Private

  • Privacy by default (opt-in vs opt-out)
  • No real name nor valid e-mail address needed, Tor-friendly
  • Control the visibility of your shared data
  • EXIF stripped by default
  • Proxified external content with Camo

page 9: The foundation years
page 10: The community years [typo, -tiy]

  • Loomio used to make decisions

Hope that helps!

Awesome thank you!
